Prime Ngaio Marsh! Good plotting, sympathetic characters, good sense of place. If you like the classic British cozy, you'll love this one.
Marsh is at her best when her setting is a theater. It has been a long time since I read this Inspedtor Alleyn story, but I kept it, which means I liked it. This one is a spare that came my way in a box of books.
