I just ordered these after seeing book 5 at Walmart the other day. Has anyone else read this series? Was it as good as it looks?

Love, love, love them. I will soon be reading A Fist Full Of Charms. Can't wait to start it but I started another book before my husband dropped Charms in my lap.

I have read them all.   When I started the first one, I had a little trouble getting into it.   This did not last long.  For the first time in a long time, I remember actually feeling fear for the main character, in some places.   Couldn't put it down until I was done.

This series gets better and better, and more complex.  You keep wondering how in the world Rachel will survive everything.  I can't remember the name of the latest one, the one that came out in hardback - but in one scene, I just burst out laughing.

Great series.

Couldn't read past the first, myself. I hated the voice of the protagonist.

They are decent books but nothing extra special to me. I liked them and I loved the Lucky Charms reference in the first book. Its quirky and at times too cute for me to take it seriously. All in all something I read when I cant figure out what else to read.

I didn't like the first one, but the rest are great, I am glad I gave Harrison a second chance and kept reading. Really cute ferret btw, we used to have one and he drove me nuts, he died of old age back in June, his name was Comet since my boys got him for Christmas one year.

I am reading Kim Harrison's new book, Black Magic Sanction. It seems much better than the last too. White Witch Black Curse I thought really dragged. This book is a bit fresher new ideas. Anyone else read it yet?

This is my favorite series. Once the series started coming out in hardcover, I didn't hesitate to buy them. I was pregnant when "The Outlaw Demon Wails" came out, and wanted it so badly I took several buses and transfers to go and get it. My paperbacks of the first four books got so beat up from being read, loaned, and re-read. I've now replaced those paperbacks with hardcovers, which will not ever leave my sight.

I finished Black Magic Sanction. Much better than the last two. I wasn't wild about the ending, but she left some good openings for the next book in the series. I still want to give Rachel a slap side her head most of the time, but she is likeable.

What is the series about?  It is written in my notebook as one to check out, but all I know is that she seems to like Clint Eastwood, due to the titles of the books.

I am gathering that it is the same character in the series, not a new couple with the others in the background.

Is it a steamy book, or mild, and are there any m/m/f?  I just can't bring myself to read those, this is a personal aspect, I have no problem about writer writing these, I am not such a prude as to say they should not be written just because I gag when I read them (no pun intended).

Anyhow, I am just wondering how good they are, hate to spend $7 or more on a book I won't like.  Even if I can trade it here, I still lose out.

the Hollows is an urban fantasy series, not a romance series.  while Rachel does have a boyfriend off and on, i don't recall anything particularly steamy or graphic (again - UF, not romance.  if you want romance or an HEA, this is not a good choice).  the first one is Dead Witch Walking, which is actually available here on PBS at the moment, so you could order it and not spend $7.

I personally tried to read the first book but didnt really care for it. I finished it but I never read any of the other books. I own them all (except the newest one) but lately I have been thinking about just getting rid of them because I doubt I will read them.

Janette: All of the romance in the book is mild in comparison to say, Laurell K. Hamilton. The main character does have a boyfriend and/or other male interests, but she does have this weird flirtation thing going on with her roommate, who is a female.
