I have a book I want to post that has a sticker on it that goes around the bottom from front to back over the binding. It was a Book It and Return book from Country Inn & Suites but since in the past five years I haven't stayed at another one I haven't been able to return it so I'd love to pass it on. Do you think it is okay to post it? Should I mail the book to one of their hotels? I don't even know which one I got it at.

http://www.paperbackswap.com/help/search.php?terms=condition

All of the information below apply both to swapping for credits and Box-O-Books swapping.

General remarks:

This is a used-book swapping site; books are not expected to be in like-new condition.

  • Older books may have some page yellowing or spine-creasing or dogeared pages; these are all OKAY.
  • Decirculated library books may have various markings and/or stamps inside or outside or on the page edges of the book; this is OKAY.  These may not obscure text.
  • BookCrossing books may have stickers or stamps or markings on the outside or inside covers or page edges of the book; this is OKAY. These may not obscure text.

I have a couple of books that I received that have stickers on the bottom that go from front to back.  Not one from a Country Inn though.  The stickers are about 1/2 wide.  Yesterday I received a book that has a price sticker on the front over the authors name.  I think you'd be okay posting it.

KrisAnn,

This question came up before to a Tour Guide, some research was done on the topic and it was determined that some of the hotels have a lending library where you can borrow a book and return it later, but these hotels do not sell thier books at book sales so it has been determined if anyone has these books they are not acceptable to list or relist if you receive them.

You may want to mail it back to the hotel, or at least contact them to see if they would like the book back.

Cheryl

Wow, thanks for that info Cheryl, I had never seen that before. It does make sense though, legally CI&S still owns that book and the Terms here say you must own the book to be able to swap it.
