I just set up this group, it is also the first time I used the group feature on Yahoo, if it doesn't work, please PM me.

If you have a Kindle and would like to lend and borrow eBooks from other PBS users using the "Lend Me" feature, please consider joining the Kindle Lenders Yahoo group

Kindle Lenders

Once you join,  visit the group homepage to see what other members have available to lend.

ETA:  Esjro - hope you don't mind, but I borrowed your idea :)

ETA:   When sending a request please note that your PBS member and nickname.  Or post below so I know you are a member.  This information is only being used to verify PBS memberships before accepting.  I think PBS has gained a few new members for ones that were not members but wanted to join!

Hi Robin - I sent you a request to join.  I just got my Kindle for Christmas, so I am still learning the ropes here.  I have been downloading Amazon

freebies for the past year though, and reading them on my iPod.  It looks like at least a few of the ebooks in my library are enabled for lending.  Of course, I still have over 100 regular books in my TBR pile, so I'm not sure how much I'll be using my new Kindle right away...

Thanks for setting this up!

I just got my Kindle too!  I have to decide what I will purchase for the kindle and what I will purchase in print.    So many options (LOL)

ETA - you are all set.

Yay!  This will be fun.  Too bad most of my lendable books are public domain.  I think I won't bother offering those, since everyone can get them for free anyhow.  I'm off to post my first book.

Not all public domain books. I have a Hannah Howell, that has the loan option.

I'm new here, but this sounds like an excellent idea.  I've had my Kindle since May and I love it!  I'll send a request to join as well.

At this point I'm going to wait to see what PBS is going to do, if anything. If I could lend and borrow here, the way we trade paper books and audiobooks, I'd prefer that, although I'd have to see how they set it up, if it's worth it.

I did email TPTB today to see if they plan to get involved in the Nook and Kindle loans. I'll let you know what response I get, but I hope those fine young people are out enjoying themselves tonight. :-)

I'm with you Marilyn.  I think I'll wait and see if we can loan books right here on PBS.  I do know there is a brand new game starting that has to do with buying Kindle books.   It will be interesting to see what TPTB think of all of this.

Just sent a request to join!  I have a bunch of books to loan, although at this time I'm not looking to borrow.  For those of you out there, there is also NetGalley.com, but they prefer if your a reviewer.  I am, and would be willing to allow someone to post reviews on my website so they wouldn't have to create their own.  Just message me and we'll figure something out.  The link to my site is in my siggy.  I'm just getting back into it, but I review all types of books, and might even be willing to send out some ARCs to those of you willing to participate.  It does become stressful being the only one trying to keep people updated with reviews on my site, lol.

So far I haven't heard back from TPTB. I'm trying to be patient. :-)

Marilyn, I don't think they can do anything in the very near future.  I can't see how PBS could track ereader swaps, when the lending is done electronically by a outside source.

This is a response from the Team (which I think gives insight to their positon) and it was posted in the CMT  forum (Aug/Sept 2010).   I think the increased interest in ebooks, readers etc, prompted this forum and it is a start.

Is anyone interested in sharing nook books?

I sent a note to TPTB asking if it would be okay to start a thread such as this to find others to share Nook books with.  Here is the reponse I received:

Dear Elizabeth,

Thanks for writing in to ask about this!  You may not swap eBooks for credits through PaperBackSwap. If you want to find other Nook owners here and arrange to lend each other books with no exchange of PBS credits, and in accordance with the Terms of Use for the eBooks you have purchased, that's o.k. with us. You can ask Nook owners to send you a PM if they'd be interested. Please don't start multiple threads in multiple discussion forums for this topic, or "bump" your single permitted topic about this more than once a day.

We would view this as an "outside" transaction. It's just as if you made friends with someone here and learned in Chat that she sells jewelry at Etsy.com, so you bought something from her. You would not come to us for help if you found there was a problem with the jewelry and your friend was not responding to PMs here. Similarly, we won't step in to help you if anything goes wrong with your Nook lending. And again PBS book credits must not be involved in Nook lending, since electronic books may not be swapped here.

We hope this information is helpful,

The PaperBackSwap Team

www.PaperBackSwap.com

In the interim, we have a  PBS group that we can lend books amongst ourselves.  I just lent my book out to another group member, and I am interested in one of the books posted by a group member.  I want to request the book when I know I have "reading" time, because of the 14 day policy.  At the moment, I am working full days, evenings and weekends, so I am not able to read much.

I just received my ereader, so I do not have many books, but as I acquire new books and they are available for lending, I will post the book for the group.  I am not worried that I might not find a book to request, but it is great that I can share with othes that would love to read  a book I may have.
