It look like Amazon is going to start allowing you to buy an e-book version at a reduced price when you buy a new physical version similar to the reduced rate on some Whispersync audiobooks. (Not all books, just some!)

Hopefully, it will expand to ALL or Most Books at some point (and not only "eligible" Books).

(I assume "eligible" Books means that only certain publishers will approve/accept the lower/sale price).

Continuing, and as I do purchase for others multiple print books each month, it will be great for I to have the option of purchasing for myself a copy of the e-Book!

Sadly, the Amazon Link only indicates that there will be "thousands" of eligible titles,  and not "hundreds of thousands."   :-(

Lastly, and happily, I do see that Amazon will apply the sales price to eligible purchased Titles retroactively!   :-)
