I've contacted Amazon multiple times & still can't get my (now 2nd) paperwhite to connect to my wifi. It started with my first kindle paperwhite last week after it received the update. I turn it on & it won't connect. I go to settings to connect but it doesn't even show my  wifi username to connect to. It does show a username with lots percentage signs & numbers & my neighbors wifi username. I try to manually enter my wifi & get an error can't connect message.

I called Amazon last week. Went thru all the steps as instructed. Nothing worked, was told a tech team member would look into & call me. No one called after 3 days. I then called again. Went thru all the instructed steps again with no luck. They then just sent me a replacement. It arrived yesterday. Worked fine, connected to my wifi fine yesterday Today I turn on the new paperwhite to see it's been updated & once again, no wifi connection. However my wifi will work for about 5-10 mins if I unplug my router & plug it back in. I called Amazon & was again told a tech team member would call me back within 24 hours.

With all this being said we have 3 cell phones, 2 laptops, my kindle fire & my sons tablet that are all connecting fine to wifi.

Anyone else ever experienced this problem?

Any ideas on how to fix it?

I finally heard back & after spending over 2 hours on the phone with a very helpful tech guy he came to the conclusion that my router isn't compatible with the paperwhite. I've never heard of anything like this. For whatever reason the latest updates caused the change.

So I worked with tech guy to gather a bunch of info from both my router & paperwhite & he's sending it to a team to look into it & I should hear back with a solution within 7 business days. So for now I'm stuck with a kindle paperwhite that I can't even register because he had me do a factory reset & now I can't re-register without wifi.

Wish I could help! I've not had that problem, although I usually keep wifi turned off and sideload.

Are a lot of people trying to connect at the same time? Maybe the kindle isn't very strong and the other devices are out-shouting it?

Or it may be they had a bad batch of paperwhites.

No, I've turned off all other devices wifi to see if it helped with no luck because I had the same thought. I think I've tried EVERYTHING at least twice & nothing helped! Hopefully they can get back with me quickly with a solution.

How frustrating!  Do you have anywhere around with free Wifi so you can register it?  You can always sideload content for now at home or go by somewhere with Wifi to download.
