Peter Dickinson's mysteries are always unique, and this book is no exception. An extremely enjoyable, somewhat disturbing, intelligent novel.
King & Joker by Peter Dickinson
Murder in Buckingham Palace!
"Great fun . . . Peter Dickinson, the English writer of sophisticated, witty and learned detective mysteries . . . has had the ingenuity and discretion to invent his own royal line." --New York Times Book Review
A real up-and-down book, part murder mystery, part sort of historical fiction, that I ended up liking quite a bit, mostly for the characters of Princess Louise and Miss Durdon. This is a quirky royal family whose members each have particular and peculiar ways of dealing with the generations of secrets, whisperings and rumors that they live with.
