The first openly gay male stand-up comedian to appear on U.S. Network TV recounts his growing up and coming out in Long Island, his first years of college and his cross-country trek to find himself and Jesus.
As expected, this autobiography of sorts was well told and had many of the funny bits that I've heard from Jaffe in his stand-up routines, though my favorite bit, his tips on being a queer, Jewish, center-fielder were a bit too based in physical comedy to make the book. Nevertheless, there were funny bits that someone who came of age in roughly the same era could identify with. And having spent a few summers trekking out to Jones beach, his observations about Jones Beach Field six being the holy land were spot on.
This is not a biography for everyone but if you shared some of these common experiences, it's worth a laugh, and the reading-time.
