I'm hoping someone in this forum can help point me in the right direction. I'm trying to track down a copy of Kipling's Just So Stories as originally published. Almost everything I find has been edited, either for political correctness or to make it more accessible to children. I have issues with altering classics but I'll save that rant for another day. Anyway...Amazon is useless for this sort of thing. Does anyone have any suggestions of editions or places to look? TIA : ) |

I just googled "Just So Stories" (original edition) and several options came up. Rose |

I did too. Unfortunately only one link led to what I'm looking for. A few lead to links of auctions for First editions from 1902 (a bit out of my price range) the others all lead to editions that aren't specifically original. I'll just keep looking... |

You might contact local used book sellers and ask them about this. I look for older versions, myself, but not so old as to be pricey. I totally agree that classics should stand as they are. MAYBE a kid version...if it's a good kid version. Too many of those are just dumbed down. And I can't understand at all why anyone would alter Kipling anyway- he wrote for all ages. He is timeless. Good luck. |
