Very spicy story, second in what I hope becomes a series. A mysterious heroine, a hero in need of her help, makes for a great romance, with some adventure and mystery thrown in.
Viscount Davenport jilted by his fiance returns from the war to find his brother missing. He enlists the aid of Lady Olivia Marquand, savy owner of a spice trading company for her knowledge of the world of clandestine commerce.
An excellent read! Pull out a good chair, turn on the reading light and get ready for a ride! Lady Marquand, the sultry, savvy owner of a spice trading company, knows her way around the shadowy world of clandestine commerce, so Davenport has no choice but to ask for her help, no matter that sparks fly between them. As the clues lead them from sparkling ballroms to smoky gaming hells, they find themselves fighting the deadly wiles of a cunning adversary and their own simmering attraction....
This was my first experience with this author. As I started it, I realized that the 2 main characters had a prior meeting. That made it a tad bid annoying even though the preceding story was mentioned in sniglets.
Therefore, I would suggest reading the first book first.
I rather enjoyed these 2 characters a lot. The supporting characters were rather delightful and I would like to think they get their own stories.
Overall I was very pleased and will look for more of A. Darif's works.
