I used this book when homeschooling my children as a home economics/science book. It is so interesting. It is done in a question and answer format. Not only can it be used as a teaching book but it is a fantastic reference book for the kitchen. Every imaginable food question is answered and the majority of the time gives you the scientific reason for what is happening with the food.
I really liked the fact it conbined 2 subjects is such a great way.
So if you are wanting to teach your children, an avid cook that wants to be better, or just want to know all there is to know about the hows and whys of cooking, this is the book to have!

It covers:
cooking equipment
cooking methods
meats
seafood
dairy products
eggs
fruits and vegetables
sauces and thickners
seasonings
oils and fats
baking
beverages
