After Wales is defeated in battle haughty, highborn Branwen of Caradoc is offered as the tantalizing prize to Ulric of Kent. But when her wedding party is attacked and killed by warriors wearing Kent's colors the raven-haired beauty alone survives and vows a terrible vengeance. Disguised as a man, she runs off to London and falls in with Wolf, a mercenary who offers his protection...for a price. By the time they reach the King's court, the bearded ruffian has won her trust and aroused a hungry passion that will shatter their charade.
For the fierce knight who so tenderly answers her need is none other than the despised Ulric, himself. Fearless in battle, he is sworn to vanquish the savage past...and conquer the heart of the woman who calls him enemy.

This was funny! The damsel in distress and the Knight who holds the favor of the king, who is betrothed to the damsel in distress and rescuses her under false pretenses from both of them and they eventually learn who they really are. Then the story becomes really intriguing as to who will best who? Liked it a lot.
