I've been sick and I'm just frustrated trying to find it.  I've got two books about to go "missing" from NC to FL, so they should have long arrived.  Both are going to (different) members who ordered them right after they joined and who have 9 books on their shelf with no profile.  Needless to say, I'm pretty sure that I'm making a "Ooooh!  Free books!" donation.

Seems like one of those "Wait until they go lost and send e-mail to R&R" things, but wanted to check.  I'm guessing if they eventually have their accounts closed i get the credits?  Or am I just SOL?

TIA.

Edit - I did check the Help Center, but everything there talks about *active* members and I just have a feeling that these are going to turn into "hit and run" members.  Sadly, I have two more in the mail to 9/07 members as well.  =(

Second edit - OK, there are actually about 10 days left before they go lost (did I mention I'd been sick?), but they both went 1st class to FL and almost all the books mailed after them (other than the ones sent yesterday) have been received, so consider this a "just in case" question.  ;)

I thought I read somewhere that if the other members are deemed inactive the books would be marked as received. My memory sucks though, so don't take that to the bank.

That is correct, if a book goes missing and the sender's account is considered inactive by the PBS computer, the book will be automatically marked received and you'll get your credit.  This won't happen until the 26th day after mailing, though.

Poached from the TG Lounge:

If an account appears "inactive" to the PBS computer, a book that is en route to will be marked received by the system on the 26th day after it is marked mailed (it will not be declared Lost).

I've had it happen to me so I know the system does this.  I just don't know how 'inactive' the account needs to be.  If they do go lost and both accounts are still on hold, I'd send feedback and ask R&R to look into it.

Okey dokey - thanks, folks!  I'll hope that either there is something wonky with the mail in FL right now or the folks are going to race in and mark them received and it was just a new user oversight - but at least I know they aren't a loss if they don't.  =)

Karen, not all members create a public profile, but are still very active.  You may want to send a PM to your requestors asking them if they have received the books.  People will forget to post them as received at times due to various circumstances.  A polite PM is often all you need to jog someone's memory.
