I was having a 3 for 1 on my books.   I had an order placed, but the member didn't know about the 3 for 1.  I thought I would be nice so I PM'ed letting them know about the deal...never heard back until today, but I had already mailed out the book because it had to be mailed by tomorrow (and I won't be able to get to the PO tomorrow).  Now that I have the request for the 2 extra books, I feel like I should follow through, but I had already sent out the requested book.

I would appreciate any thoughts on the matter.

Since you already offered the extra books and you didn't say whether you gave them a deadline to respond (most of us don't), I would send out the other two books.  I know it costs a bit more but, in my experience, kindness goes a long way and will come back to you.

Ditto to what Linda said.  Lesson learned.  If you send a PM to offer additional books in the future, state a deadline for replying.   It will eliminate the problem.

Thank you Angeleyes and Doughgirl.  I was pretty much planning on sending the books - I even have them out, just have to dig up the address and get them mailed - probably this weekend - just wanted someone to back up that I was doing the right thing - one of my friends was trying to talk me out of sending the books.

Lesson learned.

Ditto to what Linda & Lynne said - particularly Linda's statement - "kindness goes a long way and will come back to you." --- sooooooo true.

And just think -- for less than the price of a big mac & coke, you'll be making someone's day & giving them some happiness   I imagine the other member was just tickled pink when you offered the deal, since they didn't know about it when they first ordered from you!

You might also PM the person to say that the books are coming in two different packages.

Did that.  I even managed to sneak out and take a slightly extended lunch yesterday to mail them.

Again, thanks for the input.

By the same token, Jim, it's people you like you, who would go back and tell someone there was a deal available that makes swapping a pleasure.  I've done it twice for people who didn't know, and it just feels like the "right" thing to do, plus maybe they'll "pay forward" a kindness to someone else that day.  You didn't have to send the person the other two, since you mailed out the first one, but it was really nice that you did!
