OOPs, this posted with no message!!!

Basically I had a member request a book, not mark it received and it went "lost in the mail".  Then after some time it was marked received and I finally got my credit.  Well, since I was not savvy enough to check, I have mailed yet another book to this same person and once again they have not marked it received!!!!  Both books were mailed "first class" as well.

So I am a bit aggravated both with this member and with myself for not checking the request against this member.  So just a warning -- if you have a negative experience, perhaps one needs to keep their address handy so as NOT to have another negative experience.

Perhaps that person just has very poor mail service. The original book was marked received eventually, after all.  If there is truly a repeated pattern of books going lost for that member, PBS will take action.

That said, I know a number of people keep a "do not trade" list. It seems like too much trouble to me. What do you do if the book you want goes FIFO to a member you don't want to trade with? You have to cancel and keep trying, hoping someone else will get the book eventually? What a pain.

If the 1st book was marked received then it probably really did go lost.  If they were trying to scam then they wouldn't have marked it received at all. THey lost a credit when they marked it received.  So it's not like they got any benefit for it going lost.

Where does this person live?  Are they in Hawaii, Alaska or an APO/FPO address?  Those areas can take longer.

It kind of sounds like you want to punish a person who did nothing wrong. Should have marked a book they didn't receive-just so it wouldn't go lost?  Also if you used DC-just because it says it was delivered doesn't mean it actually was delivered to the right person.  My mail person goofs up the mail on our street on a regular basis. I frequently find misdelivered books in my newspaper box or on my front porch.  I also frequently find other people's mail in my box.

I can't stress this enough. Just because a book is marked as delivered it DOES NOT mean it was delivered to the person it was intended for, maybe someone else got the book by mistake in their mail and then took it to her and she marked it rec'd. I can't see taking someone off my list to mail to over this situation as the mail is not always right!!

II'm sorry you've had this problem, but with that said. Remember the mail is not always right...I've had that problem so many times, but I always give the person the benefit of the doubt. When I see that a book is marked delivered and they've not marked it rec'd  then I pm them and ask if the book is ok , is there a problem or are they satisfied with it, then they'll let me know yes, or the book actually hasn't arrived yet. But assures me as soon as it is delivered to them they will mark it rec'd.  It does happen as I've seen where lots of people have encountered this problem.

Happy Holidays to you and your family

Blessings,

Hope

I guess you figured out patience is not one of my better virtues!!!!  Upon reflection, you are all correct, it could simply be a set of odd circumstances and hopefully the same thing will not happen again!!  This member lives in Texas and I am in Delaware. So there will be no lists made!!!!

Thank you all for giving me some perspective.
