Can it get any worse for these poor parents?  I wonder if this means they can not visit her any more in Italy without getting arrested?

PERUGIA, Italy – A lawyer says the parents of Amanda Knox, an American student convicted of murder in Italy, have been ordered to stand trial for alleging that Italian police abused their daughter.

Italian news agency ANSA said Curt Knox and Edda Mellas were indicted Tuesday in Perugia for libel. Lawyer Luciano Ghirga confirmed the indictment and said trial was set for July 4. He said the couple did not attend the hearing.

The charge stems from an interview they gave Britain's Sunday Times years ago in which the father alleged police had physically and verbally abused his daughter during questioning after Meredith Kercher's 2007 slaying, before Knox was arrested.

Police have denied harming Knox.

A family representative said there was no comment

They are bound and determined to keep her locked up and if her parents get in the way they are going make them back off or find a reason to deport them. This whole trial was a sham and Italy is not about to loose face over it.This first person they arrested was the right guy the rest was a circus.I certainly have lost my cravings to travel to Italy there justice system seems very corrupt and it seems they thrive on scandalous trials .Common sense would tell us the first guy who was arrested for the murder who;s DNA was found in the room was the killer I doubt there was a wild orgy gone bad as they try to portray.Amandas only crime was being naive in a country  where she did not understand the law. nothing else well there was the scandulous Foxey Knoxey screen name lol. I feel horrible for her parents and I hope this helps parents understand when there children travel abroad that there is very little they can do if they are arrested. Most  people are under the asssumption that the consult  can do alot more than they actually can and they should familiarize themselves somewhat with the laws of the country they travel to. I hope somehow this will be resolved.and her and her parents can come home to the US.

It really makes you think twice about overseas traveling or having your children go to another country on a study program.

Oh yeah, in a country that is charging scientists with manslaughter due to the April 09 earthquake deaths of over 300 people because they didn't "predict" the severe quake ( not scientifically possible of course),

you have to be careful what you say!   And in a country that perpetrated the injustice against the author of "The Monster of  Florence", you just can't be too careful !   Remember, America is "the home of the free", so don't expect the same rights and freedoms when you travel abroad!

Wow, that is terrible!  Those poor people!  All they want to do is save their daughter.  Who can blame them?  The government should get as involved with this as we did with the hikers in Iran.
