I downloaded a book from Kobo books and managed to get it on my nook color in epub format.  (I think I did it by accident I am not sure I could repeat the process but I will try.)  When the book shows up in the Nook it doesn't have a cover image it shows shows a blue square with the start of the title on it.  Is there anyway to get the cover image to show on the Nook?  When I look on the adobe digital editions it is has the cover and I downloaded a cover of the book into calibre but I can't get the image to show up on my nook.  Does anyone know what to do or am I just going to not have book cover images when I buy books from the Kobo bookstore?

You transferred the book over using Adobe Digital Editions?  I'm curious because when I do it the covers come over with them (from ADE to Nook).

I would LOVE to know How you got Kobo eBook to Epub?  Everytime I try to move a Kobo book to Calabre or any where else it Refuses.

I used Adobe Digital Editions.  It converts the kobo books to epub and seems like a simple process.  The only problem I am having is that the cover image didn't transfer.  All I have is a blue box with the book name.  If you go to the kobo book website and click on help (top right corner) put nook in the search bar and it will give you step by step instructions on how to convert their books to epub format.  As far as I know Calibre cannot change the format of any book with DRM but Adobe Digital Editions can at least it worked for the kobo book.  I have not tried any other books but I should.

Every single one of my Kobo books are epub Barbara. What do you do when you download it? Mine goes straight to ADE.

Mine get lost in space LOL  Actually they got right to the ereader itself.  Literati only have 1/4 gig space & mine is full!  IF I could get them transfered to a SDCard I would have room for more!

Barbara, to move the book from ADE to Calibre, you have to strip the DRM.  With the Calibre plugins, it'll do it automatically.  You do have to put Kobo ebooks into ADE first and then you can move them over to Calibre.

I know you can add a cover to an ebook in Calibre, have you tried putting your ebook there Arica?  If it's got a cover in Calibre, that should transfer over to your ereader.

I don't use Calibre.  I purchase the book, then click whatever to download.  It starts to download then ADE automatically opens up.  The book is saved to my ADE library.  Then I plug in my Nook.  I see Nook pop up in the left hand column of ADE.  I find the book, then drag it over to my Nook (listed in that left hand column of ADE) and it transfers.

I did have problems the first time I tried to open a Kobo book on my Nook.  It turned out that a file that ADE puts on the Nook was corrupted.  I read up on how to find it on my Nook, deleted it, then started over.  The new file was correct and I no longer have problems opening Kobo books on my Nook.

I dont know how to strip the DRM.  But for the epub I was hitting SAVE instead of OPEN!  Save gets lost in computer lol  Open goes to ADE & then I can sideload them to the SD Card!  THANKS!!

Sarah, that is something that is puzzling me.  I did add a cover to the file in Calibre and I still can't get a picture to show up on my nook.  I just don't understand why or how to fix it.

I'm confused as to why people need to use Calibre?  The Kobo ePUB books go straight to ADE.  And, then they can be dragged right over to the Nook (when the Nook is plugged in and ADE is open, that is)

My Nook is also not taking any cover images from Calibre.  It will open to the cover shot.  But they don't scroll.

Here I was just thinking it was Nook prejudice against non BN books.

(I was not getting these ePubs from Kobe.)

I use Calibre because I have a Sony Touch.  I love that I can add a description of the book and tag it however I want and indicate it's part of a series and which number in the series.  The tags and series info carries over on my ereader.  I can search for a book by the name, the author, the series it's in, or by whatever tag I've put on it.  If I'm in the mood for a BDSM book, I can see a list of all the books I've tagged as BDSM.  I don't have to try and remember which titles are BDSM and which are not.

I almost forgot--when I plug my Sony into my computer, Calibre will tell me which of my 300+ ebooks are on my ereader and which are not.  Plus, Calibre has these awesome plugins you can use to strip the DRM from any format ebook.  So, if I ever get a different type of ereader, I'll be able to put any of my ebooks on it because they are DRM free and Calibre will convert them to any format I want them in.

About the cover photo, I think it may be B&N discrimination.  On the nook (at least the basic version) the how to says that the pictures in the touch screen "scroll" are on B&N content.  The my documents section doesn't show them (at least for sideloaded books).  If you don't get any better answer than that (here), maybe talk to the nook technical guide at your local B&N.  If you don't have a local store, just call, they seem very willing to talk you through things over the phone.  (And you get better service than the tech line, usually.)

I'm wondering if it works to just move the ePub from the documents file to the BN file.

ETA   No.  That doesn't work.
