The saving grace of this audio book is the reading "performed" by Sam Tsoutsouvas. The Broadway actor brings each character to brilliant life. It is unfortunate that the story and writing offer so little that about half way through even Tsoutsouvas can't sustain my involvement. It's too bad Feist didn't take the ideas and plot of the video game and turn it into a great book, he literally tried to novelize what it is to watch someone play a video game. The characters go here and kill this, and then they go there and kill that, they then go to the witch and get an item and clue, then they go to kill the vampire, then back to the witch to get another item, then to a cave to find it locked, then back to the witch for a third inventory item, then they go back to the locked door kick it open and kill the boss. Sad to have wasted Tsoutsouvas' talent here. Feist has written good books, why he chose this one to turn into an audio book is beyond me. I also wonder what motivated Feist to novelize a video game. I actually question whether he wrote it or whether an assistant or ghost writer did.
