I put this book on my PBS wishlist practically as soon as the show "Kyle XY" was canceled because I really was craving a fixing for the show since I felt that it didn't get the ending it deserved. This book takes place in the first season. Kyle has been living with the Tragers for about two months or so according to the book, so Kyle is still adjusting to social situations and isn't as comfortable with himself as he seems to be in later seasons of the show. Throughout the book there are random bold letters that spell out clues to things that occur in the second season of the show. The story focuses on Kyle dealing with his feeling for Amanda, celebrating his first Halloween, and dealing with the mysterious Tom Foss who keeps sneaking around the Trager's backyard. Although some of the dialogue reads as "cheesy" the author did try to stay as close to the characters as possible in text-format. In my opinion, Hillary came off most realistic and possibly even more sympathetic of a character than her superficial TV counterpart. It's a quick, easy, not very thought-provoking read, but if you are a fan of the show and you are looking for something new to satisfy your "Kyle XY" craving, spend an hour or two reading this book!
