I admit it--I got sucked into the entire Twilight saga.  I read through all four books with abandon in the span of about a month.  I then saw the movie and like many, was disappointed, because somehow it did not quench what I felt I wanted to see played out in cinematic form.  But I think the "flaw" that existed in the movie was that there was too much of the "unsaid" being acted out without that inner-voice of narration.

I thought that I would have to just move on and hope that maybe the next movie might be better if I wanted any more from the series.  However, searching Stephenie Meyer's website, I found her posted copy of "Midnight Sun," which is a rough draft form of an additional book she was developing that is a re-telling of the "Twilight" book, but from Edward's perspective.  I know there was much controversy about the unauthorized release of this manuscript on the internet, and Stephanie finally gave in and posted it on her site so her fans would not have to feel guilty for reading a pirated copy.  I cannot tell you what a GLORIOUS piece this "Midnight Sun" turned out to be!  It is leaps and bounds above the caliber of the original telling of the story from Bella's point of view.  Also, it gives that subtle narration necessary to understand just "what-the-heck" is going on in the movie.  I actually cannot wait to go back and review the movie again after reading "Midnight Sun" with the new appreciation for how accurately it held to the storyline as Edward told it!

Warning--"Midnight Sun" is not complete, but is the first 264pgs/12 Chapters of this work.  Stephenie had at one point said she would never be able to finish it because of her anger over the betrayal of having it leaked, but any fans who read this will DEFINATELY have to implore Ms. Meyer to press-on and give us the ripening and completion this telling promises!  By far, this is her most complete immersion into the depths of the characters to date!

I just thought I would mention this to see if the fan-base cannot rally her spirits with praise for this additional work.

I read the first chapter of Midnight Sun a couple years ago when Stephenie posted it onto her site, but I haven't yet read the 12 chapters yet, mostly because I, too, am sad and angry that a copy was leaked out, and thus we may never see its completion. I don't know if imploring her to finish Midnight Sun will work, because what writer would want to write anything due to fan pressure and desires? A writer should write to make himself/herself happy. Which is why I hate that a copy was leaked out because now Midnight Sun can never be the finalized version of an author's beloved project, but rather the contrived writings to satisfy a fan base. *sigh*

Stephaine will finish Midnight Sun, though she does not know when.

I have to admit, I got sucked into the series and loved them.  I saw the movie in the theater and was quite disappointed.  I then watched it on DVD, and it wasn't as bad as I first thought.  I must say the baseball costumes are ridiculous--the Cullens are too cool to wear that stuff.

But, give the movie a second chance, especially if you've read the Midnight Sun draft.  You might be surprised!

I absolutely loved the  books, and I also loved the movie (own it, saw it 3 times so far).  I thought it was very true to the book.  When I saw the characters come alive on the screen, I was mesmerized.   I thought they did a great job with the movie - can't wait for the next one.  The only probably is that since I read the Twilight series, it seems that everything else pales in comparison.  I can't seem to find another book that excited me so much as Twilight!  Anyone have any suggestions?
