A sweet little romance for a rainy day.
Troth is half Scottish, half Chinese, caught between two worlds suffering an identity crisis, compounded by her disguise as a male Chinese/English translator and spy. She meets Kyle, a travelling British lord whose curiousity and discovery of her identity causes both to fall into danger. He marries her so that his name will provide her some protection when she escapes from china, but ends up in prison himself, where everyone thinks he is executed.
In the meantime, she makes it to England where his family accepts her, yet again she struggles to fit in another society. Kyle then shows up alive and well, but scarred, and Troth tries to release him from their marriage since she believes he did it out of kindness and that's where all the romantic confusion begins. As all romances, it ends happily.
