Erin Hart writes books full of characters that are so rich in detail, with complex lives, that they could each be the main focus of their own novel. In Lake of Sorrows we once again meet up with Nora Gavin and Cormac McGuire, who were introduced in Harts first novel Haunted Ground. They are called in to assist in the excavation and investigation into a bog body, which appears to have been a ritualistic sacrifice that occurred hundreds of year prior. Their lives become intertwined with that of fellow investigators and villagers as several murders occur that may have some connection to a second body that is found in the bog.
Full of wonderful details and evoking a very gothic and lush atmosphere this is a book to savor.

This second book of the series continues the romance of Nora Gavin and Cormac Maguire in another Irish peat bog locale, while solving an intriguing set of murders. A great follow-up to Haunted Ground.
