I love the Lakeshore Chronicles series, but this story fell short. Wiggs made the main character, Maureen, so boring the romance between her and former child-star Eddie quite unbelievable. The pageant auditions, and whole "Angel of the Lord" take was mega-cheesy. And you can get away with cheesy for Christmas, but this was a little much.

I loved this book. Nothing like reading the last book in the series before you read the rest. Now I have to go back and read the other 5. I really enjoy Susan Wiggs writing. Her characters really draw you in to the story. You want to know more about them and how their lives continue and grow
This was one of the better ones. I had just finished another Wiggs and swore I was done with her, but here at least the characters were sligthly different. Instead of lovers being separated by money, this was more of your typical beautiful girl hidden behind a boring librarian facade.
I ended up liking Eddie much more than Maureen. He was very patient and understanding. While Maureen was very high-handed and at the same time such a coward. To change your whole life and stop dating after one bad relationship/fling was kind of over the top. Also to invite Eddie's parents without knowing his background simply because she felt Christmas is for families, was just plain dumb. For all she knew, Eddie didn't want to spend time with his family because they molested him when he was young. (Not the case, but you know what I mean).
The characters weren't that deep and it's predictable but it was a cute, fun read. I would recommend reading some of the previous books so you were familiar with the whole Daisy / Logan / Julian storyline but it all gets rehashed if you ended up reading "Marrying Daisy Belamy."

This installment of the Lakeshore Chronicles is a sweet holiday romance kept from being to angelically sugary by the skeptic who scorned Christmas, Eddie. He brings a special flavor with his "shut up and sing the blues" attitude although he has met his match in Mo. Fans of the series will enjoy the spending the Yuletide season with the Willow Lake crowd complemented by cynical disbeliever Eddie and a kind but strange individual Jabaz.

This was cute. Kind of read like a Hallmark movie. I figured out the "mystery" right from the beginning.It was a welcome read after all the historical fiction I usually read.

I really enjoyed this one in the Lakeshore series! It was a little mystical, magical and Christmasy, but just so pleasantly readable. I love the continuing story line of characters from the other books.... very good!

I think this was my favorite so far in this series. I love Christmas and the magic and miracles that surround it, and this book does not disappoint on either account. Very special story of Maureen and Eddy, the librarian and the washed-up former child star. Their story is powerful and exciting, sad and wonderful, all rolled into one. A very good read!
