Not what I expected and very different than the book Jacket reads. It was a bit difficult to start but once the story catches, I was intrigued and it was a good read. The story is written mostly from a small girl's perception of the Last of the true Amazonia women.

When I finished this book I could not wait for the movie starring Sigourney Weaver. That was in 2002 and I cannot believe it has yet to come out. Strong characters and fast paced adventure. There is certainly romance but it it the kind guys approve of and the values of these warriors men and women make your blood flow. This is the most memorable book I have read in years and I am sorry I cannot bring myself to post it for swap. If you have enjoyed the books of Patrick O'Brian I think you will thank me when you read this.

I loved the descriptions of how the Amazons not only saw themselves but how they lived. And the fighting scenes were really great reading too.
