I got an ARC of this book through GoodReads, and sat down and read it as soon as I got it. It's a quick read, and the story kept me interested, and yet at the end I didn't feel glad I'd read it. I don't enjoy reading about sexual abuse, and didn't know that was a major part of the story.

For a first novel, this is not a bad effort at all. It was just that the characters failed to grab me, and the story itself seemed forgettable.

Very rarely does a book get my attention on the first page. This one got my attention with the first sentence. I would recommend this book to other readers but be aware that the subject matter is about abuse and violence.
