"The clown's hair fell over his forehead, becoming a dark shadow over one eye. His body slumped slightly, and when he straightened up--he was Hitler! The reaction from the audience was slow, but when it came it was mingled with fear. Then, with his left hand posed as a toothbrush moustache, he broke the hushed silence of the theater by raising his right arm in a Nazi salute. He paused...not too long, but for that second which years of timing had taught him. Then he said, 'That's how high my dog can jump!' For a moment there was dead silence. Then it broke. Wave after wave of laughter and applause, a dam that had burst itself. It flooded him. He bowed quickly and they were still calling for him to do an encore when he walked into the wings."
