The end of the adventures of John Perry and his wife, Janet Sagan (hope I got that right), their adopted daughter Zoey and 2500 odd souls sent to colonize Roanoke for the Colonial Union. Its not a bad little story honestly. I liked the fact that the opposing human characters that most other authors in the same boat would have been as shallow as the fog on a mirror gained some depth and sympathy. Hell, even the mouthpiece for the CU and CDF had some redeeming qualities. Still, it was a nasty situation that Perry, et al were thrown into and the end was a nice twist as well.

Scalzi fills the shoes of my favorite classic science fiction authors, Asimov and Silverberg, while being fully modern.

I LOVE SCALZI! There, I've said it. I loved this book. Loved, loved, loved. Great compelling characters, wonderful dialog... Intelligent protagonists, clever thinking... And endings that *work*.

I enjoyed this book, but still wonder, what happened to the werewolves?

I am currently reading everything I can by John Scalzi. I really enjoy his characters, and the worlds he develops. His only down side is that his aliens, while strange, are very human. They act like humans, and actually are not as different as the "special Forces" that the earth people use in the book.
But, that said lots of fun. Can't put it down.

I really enjoyed this SF novel, the series, and the author. I thought this was the best of the three. I plan on reading more from this author in the future. I really liked the twists of this book and the way the series concluded. I gave it 4 stars.

A good story with many twists and turns. It once again confirms Pogo's statement, "We have met the enemy, and they are us."

Third book in series and I liked this book as much as the others! A quick read among the galaxies!

I love Scalzi's Old Man's war series. It's one of the few (only other is Spider Robinson's Callaghan series) that is written as well as Robert Heinlein, Isaac Asimov, etc. Make sure and read in order.
