This is in the Houghton Mifflin anthology for 4th grade (in California, anyway), this was one of my favorite stories, maybe because I got into the magic of it. It is in a generic Chinatown, it doesn't give a clue which one, it shows signs of being edited down (I have checked this paperback out at the library, it is exactly the same as in the HM book, so it possibly is edited), even more after reading the introduction to this on PBS, telling us it is a 10 man dragon (it doesn't mention that in the book), my students laughed at the pictures, because the watercolors made the main character, Peter, look different every time. However, that gave it more of a quasi-fantastic feeling to it, for me.
