Wonderful first book in a new series by this author!

I went out of order with this series; after listening to Book 3, Dawn's Light, on a road trip, my husband asked to hear more from this series for the last road trip. Luckily, they are on audible. They both would read find alone; but it was great to go back and see how it all started. We were hooked from the beginning, and couldn't stop listening. I love how Christianity is so easily mixed into the suspense, action, and drama.
I loved the writing, the book is a strong 5 stars; however, the narration was a bit annoying. The volume was never at a regular volume; they were either screaming or whispering. I prefer the narrators' to use their tones to create the mood variations, not their volume. This makes listening more of a chore than relaxing, especially in a car.
Overall, I rate this with 4 stars. The story is a 5 and the narration is a 3.
