I couldn't put this book down. It's dark and twisted like Braffet's first novel, Josie & Jack. If you liked White Oleander, I think you'd like this. She tells a story that doesn't have a happy ending, but it's a story that is believable. It's about secrets and the decisions and moments that make up our lives. At the end there isn't much closure, but I still felt at peace with the story.

Well, done. I expected a thriller but got more a deep, symbolic journey into some good characters. It was more of a finding yourself between mother and daughter who are not even in the same city and the story unfolds. The only real problem I had was that the author had a bad view of christianity and its ability to save lives. I was worried she was going to pull the Jesus changed my life ending, but instead she really has a poor view of them after all. The ending was better than expected, but the best part was getting into the mother and daughters old wounds that caused them to arrive where we find them in the story.

A very quick paced, suspensful read. I liked the "weaving" of past/present/point of view. Both Miranda and Anne are easily related with. Ends leaving a bit to the imagination...Can't wait to try Josie and Jack, which is the author's debut novel!
