Another masterful thriller. Chief Inspector Carol Jordan is trying to overcome her feelings for criminal profiler Dr. Tony Hill. They they are plunged into a risky undercover sting to track down a European drug trafficker and gain his confidence. But as she gets closer to her quarry, she stumbles across a darker evil--a serial killer whose psychosexual madness is born out of the darkest corners of history.
I can't remember where or which book turned me on to Val McDermid, but it wasn't any of her Tony Hill novels. "A Place of Execution" perhaps. Anyway, once I'd read that first McDermid, I started looking for others and discovered her Tony Hill series, which I read out of sequence, but it didn't matter. "The Last Temptation" is a good one; worth keeping

This 3rd installment of Jodan/Hill series is an exciting thriller. It shows the intricate plotting and great character development of the author, Val McDermid. It's a bit of a nail-biter and very hard to put down and kept me reading long into the night. I'm now looking forward to reading the next book. I highly recomend this series as they are very entertaining reads.
