Minnesotan author, Legwold, takes on his travels as he learns all about Lutefisk (dried cod prepared in a very special way). Legwold loves the food and learning about it and writes with interest and accuracy.

I just finished this book !!! i'd say it has everything you ever wanted to know about lutefisk and then some .... seriously , it explains just about everything with more than a sprinkling of good humor . although I am german [ and not Scandinavian ] and its the middle of august in florida ... you come away from this book as wanting a good lutefisk dinner !!! its not a scholarly book , yet , it is well written , informative and lots of lutefisk humor . an appendix has all the places that host dinners in the US and companies that process the fish .

I read this book , because I like to read about the history of food , where it comes from and how it influenced peoples through time . for that reason I would recommend it . unless you are Norwegian and are homesick for lutefisk .... then its a good read just for the heck of it !
