I received an e-mail from PBS stating that the date that I sent a book was postmarked almost 2 weeks after I sent it.  The note also said ignore it if I truly sent it within the specified time and I did send it within the time allotted.  Does this somehow go against my "record" in any way to make it look like I don't follow the PBS guidelines or red flag me somehow?  I love this site and wouldn't want my reputation tarnished because of something like this.  Thanks.

If they told you to ignore it, then I think you should. The requestor probably just made a mistake, or your local P.O. forgot to postmark the package and it was done by the delivering P.O. If you start getting a bunch of these, and they're all unjustified, then you should send in feedback asking about it.

Here is what PBS says about this...  You should be fine!

Books that arrive with a late postmark need to be marked received normally, and the information about the postmark should be recorded in the survey portion of the Book Received page.

  • Providing the late postmark in the survey portion of the Book Received page will generate an auto-email to the sender of the book, reminding him or her that late Mailing is not acceptable at PBS.
    • The email includes the information that the late postmark could have been entered in error
    • The email includes the information that sometimes postmarks are delayed a few days, even if the book was mailed on time
    • The email includes the information that if the late mailing was agreed to by the requestor, this is not a problem
  • You can contact the sender using the text box on the Book Received page:
    • Please be gentle!  You can't know what might have delayed this shipment
  • If the book was declared lost in the mail and you requested a second copy because you thought the first one was really lost:
    • You can ask for your credit back in your Personal Message
    • You can note this information in the Comments box at the bottom of the Book Received page: this will go onto the sender's record.
  • A pattern of late mailing will cause account suspension and possibly termination of membership
    • Sometimes late mailing happens for very good reasons, but chronic late mailing will not be tolerated

Thanks for the info.  This was a case that the person ordering the book was not the same person who received it so maybe there was a mix up in communication on their end.  I am just glad the book was received.  Thanks again.

Sometimes the post office just messes up, too.  About two weeks ago, I got a postcard that my mom sent me from her trip to Arizona.  The postcard arrived in April.  She was in Arizona (and sent the postcard) in JANUARY.

the very same thing happened to me this week. I had mailed my book from the post office - they put the stamp on it and everything and I got one of those late emails too. It really bothered me because I have never mailed a book late or said I mailed a book when I did not. This was the first and hopefully the last time this will happen

This happened with a card or something my mom mailed to my kids once. She told me the day she mailed it & since we live in the same state it usually takes like 2-3 days to go it.

I didn't get it till about 2 or 3wks later. We thought it was lost. The post mark though said it had  been mailed a few days ago! It was weird. We just figured it got lost in the post office or something like that.

So pretty much anything could have happened. I would think if this is a first time thing with you then it is no big deal. I am sure PBS can look and see in the past you have been honest.
