Stephen Leacock was born in Swanmore Eng. in 1869 and lived nearly all of his life in Canada, dying in Toronto in 1944. In his career he won several awards; the Lorne Pierce Medal and the prestigious Governor General's Award. He had the Leacock Medal for Humour established in his name and even had a Canadian postage stamp issued in his honour.« less
