I recommend this novel to people who think they would not like westerns. True, it has the hallmarks of typical westerns: close attention to the details of scenery, chase scenes, a little gunplay. But masculine pride and friendship among men are examined from interesting angles. The story reminds us of Warlock by Oakley Hall, an amazing saga of bringing rowdy cowboys to see the light of Law and Order but this one is a quicker easier read.
