This was such a great story. I loved how Kate took the time with these kids giving them jobs to do before she really knew what was going on. Think about it, how would you really react if a scroungy looking kid came into your yard like that. Most people would run them off thinking kids are more trouble then they are worth. Turns out these kids really did need help and they didn't know who to turn to because they mom told them to not talk to anyone.... but where was she? And why hasn't she come back?

This was a delightful read, with enough meat in it to keep a reader guessing and wanting to know how it turned out. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good story. This series in well-written and satisfying.
