I have to say I love all the Jack Reacher novels by Lee Child, but I hate waiting for a whole year to roll around before I get another fix.  Someone suggested Vince Flynn to try as a stopgap.  Anyone read them both?  Is it a good suggestion?  Thanks!

I am a huge Lee Child fan. He's usually an author I'll go out and buy the book fan.  I'm not that much of a Vince Flynn fan. Have you tried anything by Harlan Coben?

Not yet.  Thanks for the tip, I see our library has a ton of his books, so I'm going to get a couple tomorrow.  I also heard Dennis Lehane (spelling?) was good, I think I'll try him as well.  Thanks again.

You could try Jack Higgins' series with Sean Dillon!  I have a friend that got me into both Sean and Jack Reacher - she loves the both of them for the same reason! :)

I am a big time fan of the Jack Reacher series; it's one of my all time favorites. Some other series I enjoy very much that you many be interested in giving a go:

  • Elvis Cole & Joe Pike series by Robert Crais
  • Alex McKnight series by Steve Hamilton
  • Charlie Parker series by John Connolly
  • Carson Ryder series by Jack Kerley
  • Harry Bosch series by Michael Connelly
  • Max Freeman series by Jonathon King
  • Jonathan Quinn series by Brett Battles (only 2 so far, but off to a good start)

Those are all series with male lead characters. If you're interested in giving some series with female lead characters (not cozies, good "tough" characters) a try these are a few I'd recommend:

  • Jack Daniels series by J.A. Knorath
  • FBI Agent Smoky Barrett series by Cody McFadyen
  • Dixie Flannigan series by Chris Rogers
  • Casey Jones series by Katy Munger
  • Rizzoli & Isles series by Tess Gerritsen
  • Kate Shugak series by Dana Stabenow

Hope you find a bone or two somewhere in there to keep you going! :-)

I like the Lucas Davenport series by John Sandford. Not in the same leage as Jack Reacher but I haven't found one that is yet.
