Has anyone ever been to one of these, meaning any fan conference or the Left Coast Crime conference in particular?  Can you tell me what such a conference is like?

I just discovered that the LCC conference for 2011 is in Santa Fe, one of my favorite cities in the world and one where I have free lodging whenever I want.  The drive down from my house is just about six hours so it is very doable.  Steven Havill is one of the guests of honor and I think it would be cool to meet him.

Anyhow if you've been to a fan con or if you are planningt to attend the 2011 LLC con, let me know!

I've never been, but would love to go some year. Either LCC, Bouchercon, or one of several other smaller cons would be great!

Well, I was trying to get information about what actually goes on at one of these fan cons, too, but as far as I can tell, the conference brings together fans and authors who give panel discussions on various topics.  It sounds like there are shared meals and cocktail hours (some anyhow) and there is ample time to buy books and chat with authors.  I think that's what goes on but I'm not completely certain having never attended one.
