I received this email today and I have never seen or heard of one of this type.  Does this look familiar to anyone; with all the email scams that go around I am questioning it.  This request was for a very popular wishlist book with 1000+Waitng list.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Cathy

We are sorry to ask this of you, but if you have not mailed "XXXXXXXX " yet, could you please NOT mail it?   This book was requested by a member who has changed her mailing address - and she submitted her request with the old address on it!

We will cancel the transaction so that the book goes back onto your shelf first in FIFO order if you agree.

This is very important: DO NOT CANCEL THIS.  If you have not sent the book, just let us know so we can cancel. (If you cancel this will just pass the request to a new sender.)

Please let us know.

Thanks,

Richard Pickering

The only thing that doesn't make sense is the you not cancelling the request.  With a WL book you don't have to worry about FIFO order. You could cancel, give her time to change her addess and then repost the book.

Maybe it's a form letter they sent.  Who knows it could be related to the poster who just had a book come back to them because the person moved.

The issue Mary is that if the OP cancels her transaction the request would pass to the next person that posts the book and perhaps not give that person time to change her address.

But it's a WL book so it would not happen right away.  And is she has already submitted her new addres (after this transaction was generated) then if someone posted it imediately after the OP cancelled-then there would be no problem.  Should also submit the correct address while the book was in the 48 hour WL hold.

I wonder why the mail doesn't just give the sender the new address?

The email probably went out to multiple senders so it is standardized wording. It is the cleanest to just get all of the transactions cancelled (by the Team) and then new transactions submitted so that the new address is used and available for the labels and the postage options.
