I have a paperwhite that I just recently acquired. How can I tell if the books I purchased are lendable?

I think the easiest way is to go to the book page (product page) on Amazon and see if it says if it's lendable.

Anne's right.  I just go to the book description page and scroll down to where the publisher information is.  There is a line there that will say Lending Enabled: Yes/No

you can also look in your account where it lists all of your books and to the right is a button and if you hover over it it will tell you if the book is lendable.  This is under Manage My Kindle.

Welcome to the dark side. A good Kindle lending site is Booklending.com It functions somewhat like PBS in which you can list what you have to offer and list a wish list of what you would like. The difference is that you have to give in order to get and the more books you lend out to others, the higher on the wish list you go for when one of your wish list books gets offered. Having said that, I have received many, many more than I have lent out.

Thanks for that Nancy. It most certainly is the dark side! I haven't read a paper book in months. I had a Nook before. I just sold it today.
