A tad precious in its use of language, but still not that bad. This book tells the story of Santa Claus from the beginning: his finding and raising by fairies, his learning how to make toys, his training of the reindeer...it's fun to read at the holidays, but doesn't need to be read only in December, since it's not your typical "Christmas" book. The language might put off younger readers, since it's very poetic and uses "big" words, as may the old-fashioned illustrations, but it's fun to read aloud to all ages. My dad used to read us a chapter a night during Advent, so this brings back really good memories.
