A Life So Young The pain and sorrow of a young life taken, To much to bare their bodies shaking, An innocent child of only Six years old, Spirited, sweet and good as gold. A crime committed so unbelievably gross, Brought a broken family incredibly close. A faceless stranger so hideous and ugly, Left the scene feeling quite smugly. 1996 is when the evil deed was done, A hot summer day when she was only having fun. The stranger approached her but Katherine knew to run, Dragged into a vehicle under the brightly burning sun. Her mother and her brother were waiting at their home, An hour had passed and Katherine still didn't come. Driving around the neighborhood trying to track her down, Her mother turned a corner then she never made a sound. If Katherine was alive today she'd be 18 years of age, There would be tears of happiness instead of tears of rage. She'd be driving a car and even going to college, Coming into adulthood with life changing knowledge. Dancing with angels and singing her favorite songs, Playing safely with her toys where she can do no wrong. Years have passed and Katherine's song was sung, About the murder of a child who was far to young.
