Another favorite UK writer. I am just finishing up the last book in this series. I love all the details, and really feel like I learned a little about what it was like to live in London/UK before, during and after World War II. Really good book!
Loved this book and am looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
This is a fairly light family chronicle of a large family just prior to WWII. There are some interesting darker things hinted at and they lured me to start the second book in the series. I found some parts a little tedious and long and there are a whole lot of people and relationships to keep track of (the list at the front of the book is crucial).
It's a bit too detailed with the daily activities of the characters. It would be alright if the details tied in somewhere with the story line, but I don't see how they could. The lack of chapters is a little aggravating as well.
Effects of WWII on an aristocratic English family.
I recommend this book to anyone
