Someone gave me 2 of these books, and I'm trying to decide whether they're a good fit for me.  I'd love it if members here could give me their opinions on them.

Thanks!

I have only listened to them on tape but loved them! Part of that might have to do with the readers voice though. I think they are a cute cozy though and if you like animals and mysteries, I would put them up there with the rest of the similar books. I have heard that her earlier books are better though than the later released books.

I only read the earliler ones...probably the first 10 or so...and thought they were great fun.  Of course, I have always had cats, including a Simese, so that may have had something to do with my opinion!!!  But, they are a good, light read when you want to escape and don't want to have to really think about what you're reading!!!

Agree with everything that's been said above. I would say that if the author DID write the later ones, she must have had some mind-altering medical incident like a stroke or something, because the quality is just in no way, shape or form still there. The early ones were magic, the later ones...not so much. Although by "later ones" I mean those written eight, nine years ago...I haven't read any since then, so I guess I can't really comment on the very newest ones.

They are very quick, light reads, fairly typical cozy mysteries with interesting characters that you come to love. It really is a shame when they elected not to just retire the series instead of cranking out dross and trying to pass it off as the same quality writing that was there early on. :(

I'm also a big proponent of reading series (any series!) in order, although many authors of series books design each book to stand on its' own. IMO, its just not the same reading them out of order unless the characters exist in a total time warp, never age and never change. Which would be like....boring. LOL

Thanks everyone!  I had someone give me 2 of them, so I'll hold on to them and add them to TBR mountain!  I am very anal about reading an author's works in chronoligical order, so when the day comes for me to start this series, I will definitely read them in order!
