Thin volume without a lot of substance. The information about the Lincoln's living in the White House was interesting as were the letters from Abraham and Mary to each other. I didn't find the page after page of telegraphs to each other and their son Robert during the Civil War holding my attention though.

Most of the literature discusses Lincoln in his public life: his 1858 debates with Stephen Douglas, his election, his handling of sucession and Fort Sumptuer crisis, his management of the war, his Emmancipation Proclamation, etc. This books offers two other glimces of Lincoln a family man. During these critcal event of the presidency, he also led a private life, defined by his intimate relationship with his wife and by his devotion to their children. Excellent look at a differnt side of the man
