.... is missing.

The electronic shipping info line is missing from every book I printed and mailed out yesterday. I know I put on the postage because my PBS money is down to 68 cents so that's not the problem.

Anyone else having this issue? I mailed about 9 books. :/

Susan--I mailed a book out of Sacramento yesterday using Electronic DC, and it still doesn't show up as "Electronic Shipping Info Received".   I dropped the book in the blue box outside my work.  Usually the information is updated pretty much immediately, but  I think the system may be taking a little while to update.

That happened to me last week.  It took almost 2 days for the Electronic Shipping Info... line to appear.  I also noticed it on a book that was sent to me. The USPS site showed that it had been scanned as accepted, yet the Electronic Shipping Info line took a while to show up on the PBS side.

Enter the DC number at this link.  I copy and paste from the details page.  I have found that it will have more info than PBS or they may have the same, but then I type in that I want tracking emailed to me and the very next day scans show up on the USPS site.  I have no idea if it is realted or not, but each time I have done this (up to 4 times) I have had some info on the whereabouts of the book.   My 2 cents.

check the USPS website:  USPS Tracking

Oh yeah ... we're good to go. This is what the USPS says on one of the books:

Detailed Results:

Bullet Electronic Shipping Info Received, November 18, 2009
Bullet Processed through Sort Facility, November 17, 2009, 10:07 pm, OAKLAND, CA 94615

Something must be off with the dates though since it says it was processed before received. lol It also gives a lot of additional information.

I think if I ever wonder any more I'll just do what Robin said, plug it into the USPS site. I totally forgot about that ....

Susan, I think the Electronic Notice Date now defaults to the one you selected as your Mail By date.  I usually pick the 5 day option, just to be safe, but when I mail earlier, I have to be sure to change the date on the label as it's that later date.  Yours probably printed with that later date as the mailing date (you could see this by re-opening the label). My best guess.

In the last couple days, I printed two labels and mailed yesterday afternoon.  DC was scanned at the counter when I purchased postage, and one showed up a few hours later.  The second still isn't showing as enroute.  Just attempted USPS online, but the site is offline lol!

ETA - Electronic Shipping Info Received, merely means that a DC number has been assigned.  This notation is not an indication of whether or not the package is in the hands of USPS.  Interesting it's showing assigned after acceptance lol!

I mailed two DC packages on Saturday.  The 1st one showed up within a couple of hours.  The second one didn't show up until Tuesday.  They were mailed at the same time, and the DC was scanned at the counter.  I'm baffled why this happened.

I mailed two books with D/C at a post office substation at a gas station on Monday. The first credit showed up on Tuesday afternoon when it arrived in Warrendale PA.  The second one showed up on Wednesday evening when it reached Boston MA. Who knows, I 'm just glad they showed up at all. lol

PBS relies on the post office to update this info. So if the post office doesn't give them updated info than PBS just shows the last update.  That's why credits sometimes appear immediately and sometimes they take days.

I think Endicia (the PBS Postage vendor) had some problems earlier in the week because people were getting messages about postage not being available for particular addresses.   Odds are that during this time Endicia didn't get the data transmitted back to the USPS before the packages were scanned, which would explain some of the backwards dating.
