I love scouring the website for people who are willing to offer deals on the books on my Reminder and TBR lists.  Of course, if a book is on the Reminder list you know how many copies are available.  Is there a way that I can see a listing of all the swappers who have this particular book on their book list?  So far, I haven't found anything.  Often, I want to see if a swapper has other books I want, but I can't look at their book list until I request a book - I'd rather order a book from someone who has multiple books that I want.

Is there a listing?  If not... well... I think it's something that the website administrators should consider adding - it would also add a greater sense of community, etc amongst swappers.

I don't believe such a search function is available. However, if you go to the Book Bazaar forum you can list the books you're looking for and ask senders to contact you if they have one or more of the books and can offer a deal.

Hi Katie,

several of the forums (def. Mystery/L&R/Paranormal) have a "is this on your bookshelf" or "what non-WL books  are you looking for a deal on" threads; You can post what books you're looking for and/or if you'd appreciate a deal.  Good Luck!

You can always search the shelves of anyone who's subscribed to Box of Books.  I go there sometimes to search for a specific book if I'm having no luck with FIFO requests.

I've tried to ask for books in the discussion forums - it hasn't actually been all that helpful.  What I have begun doing is looking at the top 50 swappers and searching through their book lists.  But, that limits me a lot.  Why isn't there a search function that allows this?  It seems kind of like an obvious thing to have, to me.

It's because PBS operates mostly on a FIFO basis--first in, first out. As in, the first one who posted a book would be the one to get the next request for it. Or the first who wishlisted it would be first in line. This is one of the reasons why having feedback for individuals doesn't make much sense, either--since you're usually ordering from someone you won't know.

But once you discover people who have similar reading tastes, like by hanging out in the genre forums that you're interested in, you can add them to your Buddy List and peruse their shelves every now and then to see if they have things you want.

You don't even have to post in the genre forums.  You can just go there to read and click on members' bookshelves.  And then order from the ones who have what you want.
