I really enjoyed this book. I'd never heard of Laurance Jones before reading this account, and that is a shame because he was a truly extraordinary man of great courage and vision, and he should be more celebrated today. He founded the Piney Woods Country Day School in 1909 with little more than a vision, unending patience and kindness, and that school is thriving today. This book was published in 1955, and so also reflects the life and times of our country in a very different era. I am posting this book only because I hope the story of Laurance Jones will be read by others! Part of me really wants to keep it on my own shelf!
