I enjoy everything Ms. Loh has written. She has a quirky, wry and cynical outlook that is undercut by persistent optimism. This fictional account of a young couple trying to grab the brass ring in early '90's LA, even though the ring is tarnished and probably made of plastic, resonates with a feeling for the time and place. Being about the same age as the character (and author), I remember that giddy, beginning of adulthood-as-adventure feeling, with the attendant joys and disappointments.
