Betimes, on an island off Maine, 12 year-old Caroline has run away, with small brother Jakie, from an uncaring mother, stepfather and grandfather. But kind Freddy, a constable/grounds-keeper, and Susie, a spinster, pair off to adopt the children. It's allez, allez, entrez when the Lizzie hits the island in a gale. Some cuss words and adult love declarations probably pushed this off the juvenile list, where Ms. Moore has previously appeared, but that seems to be the only reason.« less
